New College of Florida Master Plan

Sarasota, Florida

Client: New College of Florida

New College of Florida’s departure from the Florida State University system presented a unique opportunity to reinvent the institution. The Master Plan by Moule & Polyzoides and FFS Architects helped establish a new identity by reconsidering its programmatic needs and bringing coherence and interconnectivity to its 140-acre campus. The Plan calls for more than one million square feet of building area through sustainable, place-specific design. New academic quadrangles and open spaces are introduced throughout the campus, which is connected by interwoven pedestrian and bicycle paths. Traffic calming measures reinforce the safety and walkability of the campus. The bay front landscape is regenerated, and a new mixed-use center is located between the College and the surrounding neighborhood in a typical town-gown pattern.
