Rembe Residence

Albuquerque, New Mexico

Client: The Rembe Family

Moule & Polyzoides designed the Rembe House on the grounds of Los Poblanos Inn as a retirement home for the parents of the Inn’s owner. The architecture evokes the simple and poetic style of farmhouses along the Rio Grande, organized as a set of two master bedroom suites on either side of public spaces: a living room; a great room that comprises a kitchen, dining, and family room; and a rumpus room in the attic for the couple’s grandchildren. Humble exterior materials and a modest plan are contrasted by the richness and spaciousness of the interiors. Rooms are large with ample light, views, and outdoor access, and finished with special colors, materials, art, and furnishings grounded in the traditions of New Mexico.
