Scripps College Master Plan

Claremont, California

Client: Scripps College

As master planning architect, Moule & Polyzoides has guided the campus planning of Scripps College since the 1990s. This 37-acre historic campus is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and includes buildings and open spaces designed by Gordon Kaufman and Edward Huntsman-Trout in the 1920s and 1930s. Moule & Polyzoides built upon this legacy, honoring the original design’s sensitivity to the climate, landscape, and traditions of Southern California. The 2008 master plan update included an analysis of existing buildings and landscapes, studies of proposed projects based on the academic, administrative, and residential space needs of the College’s strategic plan, and strategies for increasing parking, enhancing the pedestrian experience, and accommodating future expansion.
