Commodore Perry Hotel & Condominiums

Austin, Texas

Client: Clark Lyda

Moule & Polyzoides redesigned a historic 10-acre estate into a two-phase hospitality and residential campus. The eastern half of the site is an Auberge-branded 53-room boutique hotel that includes a 1928 mansion and its elaborate gardens. The west side, which includes a part of Waller Creek, is developed as a housing project in a variety of types: a compound, courtyard housing, and individual houses. The site is extensively landscaped around new and existing buildings, including a new pool. The architecture of the new hotel building is inspired by the Tuscan classicism of the Perry House, designed by renowned Texas architect Henry Bowers Thompson, and the housing by the vernacular house forms of Central Texas. The building is designed to be as durable and sustainable as possible and is constructed out of robust materials and the highest quality of detailing.

Condé Nast Traveler, the market-leading luxury travel magazine, listed The Commodore Perry Estate on their 2023 Gold List, recognizing the project as among the Best Hotels and Resorts in the World.
