As the first New Urbanist development west of the Panama Canal, Costa del Oeste is a sustainable model for the peripheral growth of Panama City. Contrary to the pattern of sprawl that predominates development in Panama, this project takes the form of a distinct, regional metropolitan center. The multi-phase project combines residential, office and commercial uses in various programmatic mixes, with a range of housing types accommodating a broad socioeconomic spectrum. Costa del Oeste is designed to be connected to the Republic’s capital by ferry and streetcar.
