A mixed-use and adaptive reuse project, 42 North Chestnut is located on a sloping site with beautiful ocean views in the pedestrian-oriented district of historic downtown Ventura. The new buildings include eight two- and three-story residential groupings that feature four courtyards and two paseo walkways. Preserved within the design are two historic structures, a Packard Automobile garage and the town’s library, which have been adapted to house a public gallery and commercial, retail and residential space. The buildings define new private courtyards and embrace a 120-foot preserved mature tree.
A total of 51 residential condominium units are distributed over the nearly two-acre site. Most are located above a three-level, subterranean parking garage set into the hillside, providing 252 park-once parking spaces along with replacement parking for nearby civic buildings.
