The project helped revitalize a dilapidated downtown corridor, creating a lively, mixed-use district through public investment in the streetscape and civic facilities and private investment in housing and mixed-use projects. Revenue is up 96%, traffic collisions have been cut in half and forty-nine new businesses have moved to the area, bringing over $273 million in economic output, 2,000 jobs and community pride to the heart of a north Los Angeles exurb. And all of this in the midst of a harsh recession.
