Though Southern California is considered the perfect example of suburban sprawl at it worst, it's also home to many revitalized towns and regenerated livable, urban neighborhoods and communities. Some Los Angeles-area designers, architects, city planners and developers are embracing the concepts of New Urbanism, concentrating on making cities and towns great places to live rather than extending the city into the suburbs.
