A collaborative effort of the Downtown San Antonio Community Development Corporation, the Downtown Alliance/San Antonio, and the City of San Antonio, the goal of the River North Master Plan is to define a vision and Master Plan for transforming the area into an intense and vibrant urban Neighborhood that will complement and extend the downtown. “River North, a 25-block area straddling the San Antonio River just north of downtown, soon could be San Antonio’s first great urban neighborhood,” says the San Antonio Express-News. The area is characterized by mixed industrial, commercial and residential development, significant areas of vacant land and the one-mile extension of the famed RiverWalk through the center, which is currently under construction.
