Moule & Polyzoides Selected to Design River North District Master Plan

Moule & Polyzoides was recently selected to provide urban design and master planning services for the River North District in San Antonio, Texas, a 300-acre site immediately adjacent to San Antonio’s historic center. A collaborative effort of the Downtown San Antonio Community Development Corporation, the Downtown Alliance/San Antonio, and the City of San Antonio, the goal of the River North Master Plan is to define a vision and Master Plan for transforming the area into an intense and vibrant urban Neighborhood that will complement and extend the downtown. “River North, a 25-block area straddling the San Antonio River just north of downtown, soon could be San Antonio’s first great urban neighborhood,” says the San Antonio Express-News. The area is characterized by mixed industrial, commercial and residential development, significant areas of vacant land and the one-mile extension of the famed RiverWalk through the center, which is currently under construction. Black + Vernooy Architects of Austin was Moule & Polyzoides’s Texas partner in this work. Also participating in the design charrette process will be a group of distinguished San Antonio architects, including Alamo Architects, Ford Powell Carson Architects, Lake|Flato Architects, Michael Imber Architects and Overland Partners.
